Occurrence of void in the electrical field is harmful and could endangered the electrical machines as the lower dielectric of the void causes a high and sufficient concentration of the electrical field to cause a breakdown at working voltages. This phenomena is called Partial Discharge.

Partial discharge (PD) is an electrical discharge or spark that bridges a small portion of the insulation between two conducting electrodes. Partial Discharge can happen at any point in the insulation system, where the electric field strength exceeds the breakdown strength of that portion of the insulating material. PD could damage insulation as the occurrence of PD itself releases heat and nitrous oxide.

Therefore, to avoid these unwanted ‘what if’ happen, PQE provide the service for partial discharge assessment for:

  • Switchgear

  • Transformer

  • Motor

  • Generator

  • Any other High Voltage Electrical Assets
